1. Of (e)books & unemployment

I miss my ebook reader. It took me a while to get addicted to it, because it was always a pain in the ass, with problems after problems, but it was mine and, even if badly, it worked and I was able to read through it. I can’t even begin to count the money and paper I’ve saved thanks to it. I’ve read lots of articles in there and, closer to its end, some books. Then it died and now I’m back to books in their old fashion form, in paper… and in the library, because I can’t afford to buy them.

Problem with the library I have nearby is it sucks. They don’t even have all the volumes of the Lord Of The Rings. They have volume 1 and The Silmarillion and another I forgot. Forget about having there any of the books, by George R.R. Martin, that originated the Game of Thrones tvshow. Leaving the Fantasy section the choice is equally despairing. There’s no Anne Sexton. There’s only 2 books from Sylvia Plath (which I’ve just finished reading and loved), and there’s a whole lot more missing. I think you get the picture.

Sure, it’s a municipal library. You can’t expect much from one of those, especially in small cities. I guess I’ve been spoiled with the University’s libraries, back in Coimbra. Now I’ve gone cold turkey. No decent library. No ebook reader. No money to buy books nor another ebook reader (yes, I know, the kindle’s really cheap now, but I still can’t afford it because, you know, I’m unemployed).

    *sigh*

    I need a decent temple

Anyway, just needed to vent a bit. I’ll be back at posting nice photos soon. I think. :P

P.S.: In a lighter note: It seems I’ve found myself a penpal, now! Weeeee! o/
